⚾ The KBO's 2026 season is now in full swing.
And the excitement is through the roof🔥
Baseball has been one of Korea’s most popular sports. But in recent years, it’s reached a whole new level. Every season seems to break attendance records, and tickets are getting harder and harder to get.

Today’s baseball audience looks different from the past. More people in their 20s and 30s are attending games, and the number of female fans has grown significantly. Even more interesting, K-pop-style fan culture has entered the stadium. Fans cheer for players like idols, collect merchandise, and form dedicated fandoms.😮
What’s Driving the Popularity?
🌟 New Media & Star Power
A big factor is the hit baseball variety show “A Clean Sweep” (최강야구), which brought the sport into mainstream entertainment. At the same time, the return of superstar pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin, after his time in Major League Baseball, reignited excitement among fans.

🛍️ Baseball = Lifestyle Content
Baseball in Korea is no longer just about the game. It’s a full cultural experience.
Last year, “KBO bread” was released, and fans eagerly collected the player stickers included inside. Pokémon collaboration uniforms were also a big hit.

This year, even more brands have joined in, from the National Museum of Korea to Starbucks, with products ranging from tumblers to ramen and even face masks.

🍗 Baseball = Food Trip?
Some fans go to the stadium just to eat and baseball stadiums are becoming the new hotspot for consumers.
KB Card data shows that sales at businesses near Korea's nine major baseball stadiums have grown every year from 2022 to 2025. This includes convenience stores, cafés, bakeries, restaurants, and fast food chains. The effect is especially clear on game days. Between March and May 2025, sales in those areas were 90% higher on days with games than on days without.
“Baseball food” (야구 푸드) has become a trend, with stadiums offering its own specialty dishes.
For example,
- 서울 잠실 야구장(Seoul Jamsil Baseball Stadium) - 김치말이국수(Kimchi Noodles)
- 수원 야구장(Suwon kt wiz Park) - 통닭(Fried Chicken)
- 부산 사직 야구장(Busan Sajik Baseball Stadium) - 물회(Cold Raw Fish Soup)
- 야구공 빵(Baseball-shaped Bread)

Some seats even let you grill meat while watching the game.
For baseball fans, it’s the greatest joy after a victory. For those new to the game, it’s often what gets them hooked!🍴
🔥 The Cheering Culture
Another key part of the experience is the cheering culture.
Fans wear their favorite player’s uniform, hold cheering tools, and sing personalized chants for each player. Win or lose, everyone in the stands becomes one team.
