Every year on October 9, Korea celebrates Hangeul Day — a day to honor the creation of Hangeul, the Korean alphabet that makes the language so unique and beautiful. And every year, Talk To Me In Korean (TTMIK) joins the celebration in our own creative way. 🎉
TTMIK’s Hangeul Day Journey
Since 2022, we’ve turned Hangeul Day into something special for our global learners through fun, interactive campaigns:
🌏 2022 — Hangeul Day Meetup: Connecting learners around the world
💌 2023 — Korean Words We Love: An artbook of 109 beloved Korean word
😊 2024 — Hangeul Face: Where emotions meet Korean consonants
Last year’s Hangeul Face campaign invited learners to express themselves with Hangeul by designing fun and unique profile images using Korean consonants. 🎨
Many participants proudly shared their creations on social media, and some even set their Hangeul Face as their profile picture!
이름이 뭐에요? What’s your Korean name?
And this year, 2025, we decided to give everyone a Korean name that fits just right and all the good vibes that come with it! 😎
This year’s question was simple
“What would your name be if you had a Korean name?”
The Korean Name generator takes your real name and turns it into a natural three-syllable Korean-style name. Not just a phonetic translation, but one that feels Korean.
And it doesn’t stop there! You’ll also get a playful personality description that sounds like something a Korean friend might say while giving you a nickname:
“맛있으면 0칼로리 주장(Claims tasty food has zero calories)😋”
In just a short time, more than 17,000 learners around the world created their own Hangeul names! 💛
We wanted to make this experience more than just a fun quiz. It’s a small but meaningful way to help learners feel closer to Korean culture and language, and to imagine what it would be like to have a name that feels truly Korean.
